Spartz to J.D. Ford: Hoosiers Deserve a Real Policy Debate, Not a Circus
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Two Indianapolis TV Stations Offer to Host Debates
October 8, 2026
WESTFIELD, IN – Congresswoman Victoria Spartz (IN-05) is challenging her Democratic opponent, State Senator J.D. Ford, to participate in a real policy debate, not a staged rally with his activists.
The Spartz campaign has been working with the debate commission and local television stations to arrange a substantive debate. Two stations have offered to host:
- WTHR: October 19 or 20
- FOX59/CBS4: October 23 or 30
Spartz is ready to participate under either station’s proposed format and welcomes constituents from both sides in the audience if the stations can accommodate them.
“Hoosiers deserve a serious policy debate, not another circus of nonstop screaming, shouting, jumping on tables, and spitting at my staff, as we have experienced at some town halls,” said Spartz. “A debate should be about answering tough questions, not who can shout the loudest.”
“Since J.D. Ford just recently moved to Indiana’s 5th District from Marion County, he might not realize that you don’t usually run to get elected here on defunding the police, violent criminals on the streets, men in girls’ sports, transgender surgery for children, higher taxes, taxpayer benefits for illegals, and loopholes for special interests to fund his campaign. Or maybe he does realize that, and that’s why he is avoiding a real debate while radical San Francisco billionaires spend millions attacking me with fabricated lies.”
“I am ready to defend every vote I have taken and answer tough questions about my record. J.D. Ford should be prepared to do the same and substantiate his accusations against me. Two television stations have offered to host. I am ready for either—or both. Why is J.D. hiding?”
